    Australian swim team pulled from Rio training pool when water turns ‘soupy’

    Saturday, August 6, 2016 Concerns about water quality at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games have expanded to include the inside training pool: top Australian swimming coach Michael Bohl moved his Olympic athletes from the main training pool on Thursday citing fear of infection. The team had a pre-booked session in the training pool where they would have practiced uninterrupted. However, during the session the water in the pool turned, as Bohl described, “cloudy” and “soupy looking”.     Swan in Fife, Scotland dies with H5N1 bird flu virus infection

    Thursday, April 6, 2006 It has been confirmed that tests done on a dead Mute Swan found in the village of Cellardyke in Fife, Scotland has tested positive for the deadly strain of H5N1 Bird Flu virus. The swan is believed to have been native to Scotland. Two other swans found in Richmond Park in Glasgow are being tested for the H5N1 virus. They are among at least 14 other dead birds and 12 more swans found in Glasgow, that are being tested for the H5N1 virus.     Police report drug haul seizure worth up to £30 million in Brownhills, England

    Monday, December 2, 2013 Police in the West Midlands in England today said nearly 200 kilograms worth of drugs with value possibly as great as £30 million (about US$49 million or €36 million) has been seized from a unit in the town of Brownhills. In what an officer described as “one of the largest [seizures] in the force’s 39 year history”, West Midlands Police reported recovering six big cellophane-wrapped cardboard boxes containing cannabis, cocaine, and MDMA (“ecstasy”) in a police raid operation on the Maybrook Industrial Estate in the town on Wednesday.     Multiple vehicles crash in West Palm Beach, FL

    Tuesday, March 7, 2006 At least eight cars and a tanker have crashed on U.S. Route 27 near West Palm Beach, Florida. At least five people have been injured and no fatalities were been reported. A gasoline tanker was in an accident with a flat-bed semi when several vehicles collided with the tanker. At least one semi has burst into flames. Fire Rescue Capt. Don DeLucia said that “Severe fog might have caused the accident and hampered crews from getting there.” Both lanes of traffic were shutdown for several hours.
