Sunday, August 6, 2017 Yesterday, German football club Bayern Munich announced their technical director Michael Reschke vacated his position. VfB Stuttgart, who announced parting ways with their sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser on Friday, recruited Reschke as their new sporting director. 59-year-old Reschke served as the technical director at the Bavarian club for the past three years, holding the position from July 2014. There were also a variety of sports being played in the arena built for the trade show. The events included a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, free style shooting, and bicycle test-riding. Thursday, August 27, 2015 Austrian police today found an estimated 20–50 decomposing corpses in an apparently abandoned lorry. Roadworkers who spotted the vehicle, which had been there since yesterday at least, alerted police. Responding officers found it full of corpses. The lorry is on the so-called “Eastern Motorway”, the A4, close to the Hungarian border. It was on the hard shoulder between Neusiedl and Parndorf, closer to Parndorf. The victims are thought to have suffocated. Police are seeking the driver. Sunday, July 1, 2007 A young woman was killed Friday night after an accident occurred on a gyrating ride at the Playland amusement park in Rye, New York in the United States. The woman, Gabriela Garin, was a worker at the amusement park, and had worked there for the past seven years. The accident occurred near the end of Garin’s shift; as she was loading riders onto the ride. The ride’s new operator, unaware of Garin’s presence, started the ride while Garin was still on it. Friday, September 14, 2007 British bank Northern Rock received emergency loans from the Bank of England yesterday, as it felt the effects of the financial crisis originating in the U.S. subprime mortgage market. Queues formed outside branches as many customers sought to withdraw their savings, and shares fell heavily. Northern Rock, based in Newcastle, is one of the UK’s largest mortgage lenders, with total assets and loans of £113 billion.
